Shabbat Morning Together

  • HTLC United States (map)

Our Shabbat morning service will honor HIAS's (Hebrew Immigrant Aid  Society) 8th annual Refugee Shabbat. Drawing on Jewish values and history, HIAS stands for a world in which refugees find welcome, safety, and opportunity. Many of our own families received aid from HIAS when they came to the United States. Our usual Shabbat morning service, filled with traditional liturgy, contemporary song, silence, and poetry, will integrate themes of "welcoming the stranger", and text study on the topic. We'll also highlight the work of New Sanctuary Movement Philadelphia, an organization that the Havurah has supported over the years, with Havurah member David Borden speaking about the important work he does with NSM. After the service, join us for bagels and "shmoozing"  with Havurah friends old and new.
